Bambu Lab P1S Filament Compatibility — When You Need a Nozzle Upgrade

The P1S enclosure broadens the material families listed by Bambu Lab, but “the printer can print it” does not settle the nozzle or feeder question. Filled materials such as Bambu PETG-CF have their own nozzle guidance; flexible materials have their own feeder exclusions. This guide separates those decisions and sticks to source-backed configurations reviewed October 19, 2026. FilamentFit has not tested these materials and does not promise a successful print.

Capability is not a universal recipe

Bambu’s P1S product information distinguishes ideal and capable material families. Those categories describe a manufacturer view of the printer; they do not guarantee a named third-party filament will work under every profile or room condition. For an individual spool, read the material manufacturer’s temperature, drying, nozzle and feeder instructions as well. A material-family list cannot substitute for the exact product page when a brand publishes different restrictions.

PETG-CF changes the nozzle decision

Bambu PETG-CF guidance calls for a hardened nozzle and advises against stainless steel nozzles; the P1-series hotend reference excludes 0.2 mm for this material. A P1S owner with the stock stainless nozzle should therefore treat a PETG-CF purchase as an upgrade decision, not as a routine spool swap. The manufacturer source is about its branded PETG-CF. Other filled products may differ, so check their own technical documentation before applying the same recommendation.

Feeder compatibility is another axis

Bambu’s TPU 85A / 90A product page excludes AMS and AMS lite for those named flexible materials, while the same page lists AMS HT compatibility. This should not be generalized to special “TPU for AMS” formulations, other hardness grades or unrelated brands. Likewise, the P0 audit found inadequate P1S-specific evidence for AMS lite with P1S, so the finder does not infer that pairing from A-series documentation.

Don’t overlook drying and spool details

The PETG-CF source includes material handling cautions such as drying requirements. Follow the current product guidance and the filament maker’s own instructions. Feeder compatibility does not establish that an arbitrary spool physically fits, and a spool that can be mounted may still have material restrictions. With unknown brands, modified hardware or a different reel, the answer remains Not verified until a reliable source covers the exact dimensions and route.

A careful upgrade path

Before buying, confirm the P1S hotend type and diameter currently installed. Compare that setup with the product’s official nozzle table, then check whether your intended feeder is allowed for the exact grade. The compatibility finder only displays conditional manufacturer outcomes when every selected axis matches its evidence. Its negative rules remain visible even if another axis is positive; a hardened nozzle cannot override a manufacturer feeder exclusion.

QuestionSource-based answer
Bambu PETG-CFHardened nozzle required by the cited product guidance; 0.2 mm excluded; AMS lite excluded.
Bambu TPU 85A / 90AAMS and AMS lite excluded; do not generalize to other TPU formulations.

Stainless 0.4 mm with PETG-CFManufacturer cautions against stainless; check exact current nozzle instructions.

Before you buy

  • Inspect the installed nozzle material and diameter.
  • Check named material product instructions, not only printer family lists.
  • Verify feeder constraints independently.
  • Do not infer fit for third-party spools or feeder combinations.
